Advanced Micro Devices has released a video footage showing how professional overclockers boost clock-speed of AMD Phenom II microprocessor all the way to 7GHz. Meanwhile, overclockers have conquered 7.1GHz clock-speed milestone with Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition chip.

The video released by AMD shows how overclockers – using liquid nitrogen, seriously modified hardware and all their skills – push the clock-speed of AMD Phenom II X4 955 chip by more than 100% to 7.08GHz from 3.20GHz.  The video was taken during QuakeCon trade-show earlier this year.

According to CPU-Z validation database, the highest clock-speed that AMD Phenom II X4 has ever reached is 7.127GHz. The record was set on the Phenom II X4 model 955, the processor based on the C2 revision of the core. Since recently AMD released C3 revision of the code-named Deneb chip that consumes less energy and is supposed to have higher overclocking potential, the new records are on their way.
