Please review my network below. My problem is that My xbox does not detect network if my htpc is switched. However as soon as a switch the htpc on, xbox also connects to the network.
Hence to play xbox live, If have to turn on my HTPC.
Thankyou |

I can see the picture just fine. Very well drawn diagram, hussain!
I'm no expert at networking, but I'll give my 2 cents...
I've heard that if you go through too many routers, the DHCP won't assign properly. It seems like you're going through 3 routers before getting to the 360 or HTPC. Does anything change if you connect your Netgear WNHDE111 (hard-wired to the HTPC and 360) directly to the Linksys WRT54 and skip the middle Netgear WNHDE111?
EDIT: I see your Netgear routers are wireless-N and that is why you're going from one to the other, to maintain your wireless N speeds- very good idea for streaming from the storage PC to the HTPC! Still, I wonder if going through too many routers is confusing the DHCP distributor (which I assume is the WRT54) and that could be giving you trouble. _________________ A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. WNHDE is not a router it is access port as well as bridge. I use them to get both N as well as G wireless connectivity.
Now someone can please answer my question. |

And why can't the HTPC and XBox connect directly to the WRT54? _________________ We never think of us as being one of Them. We are always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things. |
