In the next few days Intel is going to make another revolution in the processor market – launch Core i7, new processors on Nehalem microarchitecture. This microarchitecture should become the next significant step after extremely successful Core microarchitecture. In our today’s article we are going to talk about the details behind Nehalem microarchitecture that will help us better understand what we could expect from Intel.
While we are waiting for the Intel Core i7 bestsellers to come out, we decided to take a closer look at inexpensive quad-core processors that get more and more popular these days. In our today’s test session we will compare Core 2 Quad Q9400, Core 2 Quad Q9300, Core 2 Quad Q8200, Core 2 Quad Q6600 and Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition.
Intel continues to expand the lineup of CPUs manufactured with 45nm technology. Trying to catch up with the launches we tested two new processors based on cut-down version of Wolfdale core. These are mainstream CPUs – Core 2 Duo E7300 and Pentium Dual-Core E5200 priced at only $84 and therefore extremely interesting. Let’s see how the arrival of these two processors may change the situation in the mainstream market segment.
Thanks to Intel, nettops – small, inexpensive and power-efficient home systems – turned into the latest computer fashion. Today we are going to compare several processors that may become a basis for systems like that: Intel Atom 230, Intel Atom 330 and VIA Nano L2100.
In 2-3 weeks Intel will start shipping new dual-core processors with new E0 stepping. There will a new CPU among them: the today’s highest frequency model – Core 2 Duo E8600. Our today’s article will talk about this new processor and the features of all upcoming CPUs with the new processor stepping.
AMD Company expands the line-up of their processors on K10 micro-architecture. Now besides quad-core Phenom X4 they will also offer triple-core Phenom X3. Let’s see if AMD managed to design a successful solution this time without switching to new production process.
Dual-core Wolfdale processors get cheaper. No, we are not talking about the next price reduction. The thing is that Intel is simply launching a new inexpensive Core 2 Duo E7200 processor, which belongs to the progressive 45nm processor family, even though it has somewhat limited functionality. Will it become a new bestseller? Let’s find out now!
We have just completed the tests of a new AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition processor using the new B3 stepping. AMD managed to quickly fix the TLB bug and increased the clock frequencies of its quad-core processors. But will this be enough to make Phenom a more promising choice for consumers?
$3000 for two quad-core processors from Penryn family, $650 for a special mainboard and $200 for memory: this is a new exclusive dual-processor platform for enthusiasts from Intel. However, do investments like that really make sense for the sake of unattainable performance?
We continue talking about new desktop processors from Penryn family manufactured with 45nm process. Today we are going to talk about the youngest quad-core Yorkfield CPU, which should replace the today’s market hit – Core 2 Quad Q6600.
We tested 17 contemporary dual-core processors from AMD and Intel to answer the most important question the users ask these days: what solution is the best choice from the consumer standpoint basing on their price, performance and power consumption.
Although quad-core Phenom processors cannot boast super high performance, AMD still has a bunch of fans sticking by. Our today’s article is written specifically for these guys. We are going to discuss one of today’s overclocker platforms and Phenom fine tuning techniques.
On January 20, 2008 Intel starts selling their first dual-core processor in the budget Celeron family. Will this cause a revolution in the low-end processor market? To answer this question we carried out an extensive test session of the newcomer in our today’s review.
These days Intel refreshes their dual-core Core 2 Duo processor lineup. The new CPUs manufactured with 45nm process boast a lot of advantages compared to their predecessors. We would like to offer you our extensive write-up about them...
We are ready to share with you our extensive benchmarking results of the real quad-core AMD processors from the new Phenom family that were officially announced on November 19, 2007. Our article includes detailed performance analysis for Phenom 9500, 9600, 9700, 9900 and an overclocked CPU running at 3.0GHz frequency.
In the nearest future Intel is going to launch the long-awaited processors from the new Penryn family manufactured with 45nm production process. Today we are going to share with you benchmark results obtained from the first representative of the new desktop processor family – quad-core Core 2 Extreme QX9650 CPU.
Our last article will uncover some of the performance data for the new Yorkfield processor and dual-processor Skulltrail system demonstrated at the show.
While AMD keeps postponing the launch of their quad-core processors to the end of this year – beginning of next, Intel Company is offering very affordable quad-core CPUs from Core 2 Quad family. However, can Core 2 Quad processors be regarded as a worthy alternative to popular dual-core solutions?
First AMD Barcelona processors should be announced in a month already. They will be the first solutions to be built on AMD’s new K10 micro-architecture that the company pins a lot of hopes upon. Let’s take a closer look at the micro-architectural innovations that will be introduced in these new solutions.
We often get a lot of questions about CPU overclocking techniques and tools. So, how do we overclock processors? Hopefully our new article will answer most of your questions.
